Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions and uses buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, temperature, and gentle water resistance to modify weight-bearing activities, decompress joints, reduce stiffness, and enhance movement.

Fox Chapel Physical Therapy offers aquatic therapy at our O'Hara Center office in a state-of-the-art Aqua Ark® pool, which provides a deep water environment where patients can perform low or high-intensity therapeutic exercise depending on their abilities. Patients can be tethered to the pool or float without assistance according to their comfort level and benefit from a freedom of movement that enables them to gradually increase to weight-bearing exercises.
